"Gallery" was organized in 1965. At that time, the group featured 1940's
Big Band music. In the mid 70's, Gallery decided to broaden its appeal
by adding several "Top 40" numbers. Later, in the mid 80's, the band once
again broadened its base with the inclusion of Carolinas' Beach music and "Top
40" classics. Since that time, "Gallery" has become one of the most versatile
bands in the Carolinas. "Gallery" has performed from Georgia to Ohio for
national and regional events. In 1975, several members of the band toured
North and South Carolina radio station to promote their new beach single, "Long
Nights, Hard Times," which was written by trumpeter Bill Harbinson.
"Long Nights, Hard Times" became one of the most requested singles of North
and South Carolina beach radio stations from July to September, 1975.
In 1988, after being heard by one of Anita Bryant's lead staff members, "Gallery"
was contracted to accompany Ms. Bryant in a summer show in eastern North Carolina.
The present composition of the band includes a male and female vocalists,
a three piece horn section and a four piece rhythm section. A combined
eight music degrees are held by the membership. And combined total years
of performance experience reaches nearly 200 years.
"Gallery's" experience and variety of musical styles makes it a good
choice for many different events. From concerts to reunions and weddings
to office parties, the blend of Carolina Beach music, classic "Top 40"
oldies, 1940's "Big Band" favorites and ballads makes "Gallery" the best choice
for any occasion.
